A small brick built church of 1738, St Andrew's comprises a  3-stage west tower, a nave and a short chancel with a Venetian style east window - shown here.

Inside can be found an 18th century pulpit and reader's desk and a 14th century octagonal font.

The brick church of St Andrew in South Thoresby dates from 1735-8.

The nave windows in this early Georgian church are arched and keyed in.

Pevsner asserts that the brick is 'still' laid in English bond. In fact this applies only the lower courses up to about one metre; above that the bricks are laid - as Pevsner no doubt expected in a building of this date - in Flemish bond.

The doorway in the south wall of the tower has a Gibbs surround and pediment.

A Gibbs surround to a doorway, an eighteenth century design feature, consists of alternating larger and smaller blocks of stone.

This illustration, made for Sir Joseph Banks in the 1790s, is of a little known though substantial house in South Thoresby built for the Wood family.

It was demolished in the 1820s.
